The wait is almost over! In little more than a week, “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1″ will be yours to own on Blu-ray and DVD, meaning you can hit repeat on all those awkward wedding toasts over and over again. (Or, y’know, one of the steamy sex scenes. If that’s your thing.) In anticipation of the February 11 release, we’ve nabbed an EXCLUSIVE DVD extra in which “Twilight” scribe (and “Breaking Dawn” producer) Stephenie Meyer recalls filming the climactic birth scene. Watch the behind-the-scenes clip of Edward (Robert Pattinson) trying to revive Bella (Kristen Stewart) as Stephenie explains.

“He was really able to touch the human emotions of that scene. Rob really nailed it,” Stephenie recalled. “It was really powerful. I teared up, several people near me did. It was just a lump in your throat—that moment of thinking you’ve lost everything and not being able to accept it. It was really emotional.”

Yet, as fraught as that life-or-death moment was, we can’t help but smile at the quick shot of director Bill Condon fist-pumping when Rob nailed it. Very sweet.

This is certainly one way to get people to attend a release party. Target will extend store hours in nearly 500 stores across the country on Feb. 10 to host a DVD-Blu-ray event for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 1, which hits shelves at midnight. Beginning at 11 p.m., fans will be treated to the exclusive world premiere of a scene from the fifth and final film, in theaters this November. The scene will not be available on Target’s exclusive Limited-Collector’s Edition DVD. That does, however, come with an authentic prop flower from Bella and Edward’s wedding scene. And before you try to bribe Target employees into telling you which scene will be shown, EW is told that no one at Target will know the answer to that question until that evening.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie is the ninth film this year to push past the half-billion mark globally, hitting the mark in just 12 days of release. So far, the movie has grossed $223.4 million in North America and $285 million internationally, for a grand total of $508.4 million.

“We couldn’t be more pleased with the success of this film and a franchise that the fans have continued to support over the past several years,” said Summit Entertainment co-chairmen Rob Friedman and Patrick Wachsberger in a statement. “Thank you to all involved with the films from the actors, filmmakers and Stephenie Meyer to the most important group of all, the global fan base that continues to drive a desire for more Edward, Jacob and Bella.”

MTV News asked experts how long this domination can go on, especially since the only competition this weekend is the NC-17-rated full-frontal indie flick “Shame.”

“It’ll be close between ['Breaking Dawn - Part 1'] and ‘The Muppets,’ because ['The Muppets'] has much better word of mouth,” said Boxoffice.com’s Phil Contrino, noting that it was too soon to say which would come out on top. He also predicted that the movie should finish its domestic run in the $300 million range and stay near the top until such holiday blockbusters as “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” and “Mission Impossible — Ghost Protocol” on December 21.

“The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2″ is scheduled to hit U.S. theaters on November 16, 2012.
